Advocacy

ACE provides representation with the Florida Legislature, Department of Education, and other state and community agencies. ACE is alert to changes in legislation and works hard to ensure the survival of adult and community education programs. The ACE office keeps members informed of the happenings in the legislature via the Web site and the electronic mailing list.

Every ACE member has the option of receiving the weekly legislative update e-mailed directly to your inbox to keep informed on legislative changes as they occur. The first legislative update is provided here and as a sample to non-members to view the beginning session updates provided by ACE of Florida, Inc.

Professional Development

Credit and staff development opportunities are available through through regional seminars and statewide meetings. Learn to implement the newest legislation, to get inspiration from great programs around the state, to bring the most innovative technology and teaching methods to the classroom and much, much more. Publications

Members receive the quarterly ACE Report which is the source for adult community education news for Florida's education professionals. Members also receive the monthly "ACE Alerts" on the latest issues and events that affect Florida's adult and community educators.

Communication and Networking

Connect with other adult and community educators from all over Florida through the many workshops and brainstorming sessions such as with the Practitioner's Task Force. Join with colleagues and friends at the ACE Annual Conference, for an opportunity to network and learn in a fun/ positive atmosphere. Enjoy affiliation with other state and national organizations such as FAACE, The National Institute for Literacy and The National Community Education Association.

Members also can join the ACE Electronic Mailing List, to get news "hot off the press" and to share ideas.

ACE Membership Card

Members receive a custom ACE of Florida/Access Savings Card which gives you special "members only" benefits at thousands of hotels, golf courses, recreational facilities, car rental agencies, merchants and more in Florida and around the world! Click on the card to activate your new ACE membership card or if you are not an ACE member and wish to join, complete the membership application and fax or e-mail back to the ACE office or contact Membership Services.

Membership Application

ACE is open to all persons supportive of adult and community education. Memberships are annual and renew on their anniversary dates.

Membership Categories

• Professional ($50)

  Includes those actively engaged in adult and community education as their primary professional responsibility. Professional members may vote for and hold office.

• Associate Professional ($25)

  Includes only those part time or retired adult and community educators, volunteers, and community members with an interest in adult and community education. Members in this category may vote for and hold the office of district director but cannot nominate, vote for, or hold statewide office.

• FAACE-ACE Affiliate ($20 in addition to Professional membership)

  Includes only administrators who have current membership in the Professional category. Members may vote and hold office with ACE of Florida, Inc.

• Institutional Subscriptions ($100)

  Includes institutions, corporations, or associations interested in adult and community education. Only one person may be designated to receive the publications. There are no voting privileges.

All members are important to the association and are encouraged to take leadership roles on the board and committees, and to actively participate in sponsored activities.
