Procedures for Web-Based Inservice Points

Web-Based Inservice programs offer a new way of providing training to teachers and staff, especially in adult education.  For this reason, it requires that procedures be in place at local districts. A memorandum to all Adult Education Deans and/or Directors outlining these procedures has been included in this site. It provides notification of the availability of the inservice program and the requirements for awarding inservice points.  If a local director is not aware of the procedure, you may pull down the attached file entitled “Approval Procedures for Web-Based Inservice Points” for more information.  A phone number and e-mail address has been provided as part of this document.

To receive inservice points for this training component, one must do the following:

  • Check with the local Director/Dean of Adult Education to see if an approved component has been added to the Master Inservice Plan.
  • If an approved component is available, obtain permission to complete a Web-based inservice training program and complete necessary forms required by the district or community college.
  • If an approved component is not available, discuss the need for one with a supervisor. A component must then be written and approved by Staff Development before inservice points will be awarded.
  • Obtain approval from a supervisor or the appropriate district or community college to participate in a Web-Based Inservice program. Complete the registration process on the Introduction page of the “Improving Retention in Adult Education Programs” web site. This is a required element if you are planning to receive inservice points. Certificates of completion will only be awarded to those individuals who have properly registered for the course.
  • Complete the pretest, all activities, the capstone project and post test, then submit to the facilitator (instructions are included on the Web site).  This will provide a record verifying completion of all required activities in the training program.
  • Complete the Web site evaluation form and submit to the facilitator.
  • When you have successfully completed and submitted all activities, a staff member at the Division of Workforce Development will send a certificate of completion to you and your Staff Development office. Allow 30 days for verification to be sent.
  • Verify that your Staff Development office has received your certificate of completion.
