Improving Student Retention in Adult Education Programs

Component 5: InterActive Time

Now that Components 1 through 4 are completed, everything learned will be tied together into an interactive experience. This capstone or final project should synthesize all previous learning, and will be posted on a Region 3 Web Bulletin Board to be shared.

Good luck and enjoy sharing what you have learned!

The capstone project consists of the following four parts:

Part 1 Conduct a retention study of the class. Develop a summary of your results.  Be as specific as possible so others may benefit from the results. Where was that example?

Part 2 Describe three Strategies for Success to implement in the class.  Make sure to target specific populations.  Consider strategies that would overcome barriers/obstacles, learning and cultural differences and various learning styles.

Part 3 Share a retention success story about a student or class.  Describe the initial problem, the techniques and strategies used to overcome the problem.

Part 4 When the capstone project is completed, post the results to the Bulletin Board.

POST TEST

Now it is time to check your knowledge. Click here to complete the Post test  and use the form to indicate your answers to the questions. When finished, submit your answers by clicking on the "Submit" button. Answers will be forwarded to the facilitator.  This will enable the DOE to provide you with the required documentation to award 10 inservice points.
