“Sunshine Success Stories: Showcasing Florida’s Adult Education Students”

The ACE of Florida Board of Directors have developed a pro-active advocacy/marketing plan to help ensure that all of Florida’s legislators understand that adult education is vital to Florida’s economic recovery and growth.  WE NEED YOUR HELP!  We have devised a two prong approach to get the word out and we must have the support of the ACE membership to accomplish our advocacy mission.

The first prong of the advocacy project is “SEND A FRIEND TO TALLAHASSEE NEXT SPRING.”  ACE is encouraging adult educators to contact their local legislators NOW, while they are in their district through January, to promote your programs.  Invite your legislator to your GED/Adult diploma graduations or citizenship graduations as a speaker or stage guest.  Take your adult education student to meet your legislator and let them tell their story.  It does not take a lot of planning or effort to promote your programs to your legislator.  Do it while they are home…don’t wait until they go to Tallahassee.

The second prong of the approach is to get the story out by identifying adult students who have reached their life goals, improved their standard of living, achieved a higher paying job, advanced to higher education, or attained a career goal.  The “Sunshine Success Stories:  Showcasing Florida’s Adult Education Students,” is a project that ACE of Florida is sponsoring to highlight learners who have attended adult education programs, overcome personal roadblocks, and are now successful and productive citizens and family providers.

Please take this opportunity to nominate an outstanding student from your school district, community/state college, or community-based program.  We are looking for students who have made a positive contribution to their community, now have significant life responsibilities, have met life goals as a result of completing an adult education program and have overcome difficult circumstances.  The nominee does not have to be currently in school.

Help us help you keep adult education alive and well in Florida so we can continue to serve our students.  Let’s not keep it a secret – Adult Education: The Choice that Makes the Most “Cents.”
